Rural Crime/farming equipment

Operation ENFORCE– has been created to reduce speeding and road safety issues including nuisance motorbikes especially at weekends.

We continue to conduct speed monitoring and enforcement utilising the SL700 laser sped meter on the beat.

Rural Crime – We have seen an increase in rural crime especially around farms this month and are currently running operation vitality with extra officers patrolling around rural locations especially farms stop checking any suspicious vehicles or activity.

2nd Morcott – theft of vehicle registration plates

5th – Morcott – theft of number plates

6th – Glaston – theft of 2 caravans parked up from farm were they were stored.

11th Ketton - between 01:56 – 03:47 suspects have entered business yard and broken into unit stealing various tools - suspects leave in white Ford Transit van.

15th – Empingham - Burglary - between the material times persons unknown had forced entry to an outbuilding/Cattle Shed at Coach Road Farm Empingham. Horse box type trailer stolen.

15th – Edith Weston – theft of LandRover Defender – later found in a filed stripped of parts.

18th – Edith Weston – Theft from store -

21st – 23rd – Empingham Rd, Ketton – Theft of caravan from roadside.

23rd – 3rd – Manton – Burglary – Entry via smashing a glass panel in back door.

28th - Morcott – 2 x theft from work vans parked up in car park.

As for Burglaries we like to remind you the usual MO is entry via forcing rear garden doors or windows as these areas are isolated and out of sight. Please make sure all doors are locked whether you're in or not, windows are locked and secure and look at your security measures on any lockups, garages, sheds or outbuilding. If you can make it difficult for anyone to get into the rear garden even better as this is the preferred point of entry for burglars. Preferred items for them to steal is Jewellery and cash so please keep these safe.

As for other vehicle crime, please continue to remove all property – remember 'if you leave it on show it will go'. Look to park your vehicle in a well-lit area, look to manoeuvre your van to make it difficult to open any side or rear doors. Please remember when you park up the perpetrators could be watching you, so remove your valuables out of site prior to arrival.

We will continue to work closely with the local residents and will alert you as soon as crime is reported and ask that if anything suspicious is seen to report through either 999 or 101.

    This month's theme is Crime Prevention and we have highlighted our launch of our new "Safety In Neighbours"campaign, which launched at the tail end of July. This has been a great campaign and we have received lots of positive feedback.

    As well as continuing our theme across the newsletter, we are excited to launch our first ever Impact Survey, which we are pleased to say we have received over 21,000 responses. We would like to congratulate West Midlands and Hampshire, which we have received the most responses from their members and members of the public.

    We would like to take this opportunity to thank those that have already completed the survey and for those of that haven't, we ask you to fill in the survey and ask others to do the same.
